One Sunday afternoon at Kaggadaspura, Bangalore

A typical Sunday afternoon it was. Time of the day, before lunch, was not feeling hungry on account of a late breakfast.
Went out on a stroll in the narrow passageway behind my house, which goes parallel to the railway track.

 railway track

Many a time I will be waiting for the train to pass by at this crossing. The gush of air, the tremors, and the crescendo… this is one of those experiences that can’t be explained, but experienced.

Further on this path, few kids were playing the most popular game in India. As I was trying to take some shots of the kids in action a little girl came near me, interested in what I was doing.

KCC – Kagadaspura Cricket Club

Had to coax them to strike such a pose!

…tried to make this girl smile without success.

  1. First one is not so good! Not comparable with remaining three and “the grand entrance.” I feel you should have taken from right middle of the track. KCC photo looks natural except one guy in jacket is worried about his acting :).Second one is very good. But I feel the last one is great!! I think this is one of the best photos that I have seen.In the last photo, her eyes – her skepticism towards you, the way she is holding the fence – her determination of not to break her emotional inertia, her face – matured look with a touch of anger which is unusual for a little girl of that age, instead of being surprised, curious and enthusiastic about the digital camera which probably she would be seeing first time in her life….. The best part of these two photos are a white bindi on her forehead, which probably because of saturation problem of CCD/software/resizing, looks like a tiny pearl embedded in her forehead right from her birth!! On seeing last three photos I felt we human beings are very unfortunate that we can’t change our vision mode from color to gray even though processing of color information is separate just like in digital camera!Till now I was thinking that only natural or landscape photography gives best aesthetic experience as it is free from any artificiality. But I am sure any arrangements of rocks, rivers, lakes, mountains will not speak out so many feelings that is there in the last photograph as these natural things are lifeless. Natural photos give “pleasant to eyes” or “good to see” feeling, might utmost inspire, amaze, frighten, lighten or heavy our hearts but I don’t think they can speak out so much as this last photo. For me, photo being gray, pearl on her forehead, her unusual look, her hair style, focus problem of camera technology (grass not focused properly, blurred out, our vision can’t do that!) – all reveal that aesthetic enjoyment is actually due to “imperfections” and not due to perfection.

  2. P Kalyan:Yes, probably the first snap should have been taken from the middle of track, but still, even this photo is important. The person in focus is plausibly the most important person of Kagadaspura, he is the gate keeper of the level crossing.Last photo – I did not know what caption or what description to give for this snap. If I had tried to, could not have given a better description for the snap, thanks for that P Kalyan. (Grass not focused properly : this is intentional, took the snap in complete manual mode and made the background completely out of focus).Tried a lot to make small talk with her, but she maintained the hostility throught.Jayanth:hey, thanks for dropping in. didnt know u blogged. Atleast Blognadro time timege update mado, will get to know what antics u are upto.

  3. hey I liked that girl pic, and some pics look so much better in black&white!!! they express more than colours would…good picsI liked the landscape one too (mekedatu)

  4. mainak: no mainak, by giving a title to it I will be spoiling the aesthetic appeal of the snap. Its left for the viewers to imagine what they feel when they view it..yashita: B&W photos dont differentiate what colour people are, there are only shades of gray, maybe thats the reason..S: lo magne, didnt know you were into blogging, anyway, keep blogging..

  5. Keshav: ThanQ, even I feel so..Sameer: Maybe ur right. One thing is for sure, I dont think much when Im taking photos. I just take a photo because Im there and I will not go to a place just to take a photo..

  6. the girl looks innocent and curious .. and the guys are excited .. feeling like the stars of future 🙂
this post was so soothing to the eyes !!
