Be it a 1000 year old temple or a modern day edifice - I love them all. This post, true to its title, presents photographs of Singapore city, and where every photo has a bit of the sky in it! The Singapore skyline is sure to turn anyone awestruck (and neck-struck!), so here are a few of the gems I captured.Love the converging lines on the building.
The English name of Singapore is derived from the Malay word Singapura (Sanskrit: सिंहपुर, lit. Lion City), but they say that Lions probably never lived there; the beast seen by Sang Nila Utama, who founded and named ancient Singapore, was most likely a tiger!
It appears to me that the skyscraper cluster on the right stands on one such smaller island or reclaimed land.

The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Its name combines “mer” meaning the sea and “lion”. The fish body represents Singapore’s origin as a fishing village. The lion head represents Singapore’s original name — Singapura — meaning “lion city”. The huge Merlion on the right can be seen at Sentosa Island, one of the larger islands of Singapore which is an Island completely dedicated for entertainment!
Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. Marina Bay Sands features three 55-story hotel towers connected by a 1 hectare sky terrace on the roof, named Sands SkyPark. The Lotus shaped structure on the left is a ArtScience Museum. It also houses the world’s largest atrium casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines. There was no cover fee for tourists’ entering the casino, which otherwise is $100 for Singaporeans. This was our first Casino visit and we did much observing and no spending!
